Basques, Bustiers & Corsets
A Basque (French origin) is a very historic piece of women's clothing and is now used as sexy underwear. It usually means a long corset style jacket that extends past the waistline and over the hips. In the 20th century the word basque is used to describe a piece of womens lingerie that is very sexy and erotic.
A Bustier is traditionally an article of clothing for women and is traditionally worn as lingerie. It may look like a basuqe but a bustier is in fact shorter. It should reach down to the ribs or waist and has a different function to the basque. It's function is to push up the bust by tightening against the midriff. It gently forces the breasts up while giving shape to the waist. The bustier can be a dual purpose garment used as a push-up bra for inner wear as well as a camisole for outer wear.
